The son of Karen Roe and Dan Scott , Lucas was never acknowledged by his father and was raised by his mother and his paternal uncle, Keith Scott. Although given various opportunities, Lucas never wanted to mend his relationship with Dan, constantly pushing him away throughout the series, especially after he learned Dan was the one who killed Keith during the school shooting. Lucas always had a passion for basketball and at the beginning of the series used to play at the River Court with his friends Skills Taylor , Fergie Thompson , and Junk Moretti , with Mouth McFadden usually giving commentary.
However, after his best friend, Haley James , fell for Nathan, the two grew closer and eventually became companions and good friends until they started to actually consider each other brothers. Over the course of first four seasons, Lucas was also involved in a complicated love triangle with best friends Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer , who eventually turned out to be his one true love and later became his wife and the mother of his child, a daughter whom the two called Sawyer.
After his dream of becoming a professional basketball player was crushed by the discovery of suffering from a heart disease, Lucas struggled to understand which new path to follow in his life. This all took a turn when, while approaching graduation, he realized he wanted to achieve another dream of his, namely becoming a writer. As a result, he started writing his first novel titled An Unkindness of Ravens , which was a a sort of recollection of his last two years of high school, with particular focus on his love story with Peyton.
He had the book published during his college course and, after it turned out to be a major success, Lucas became a famous author. However, Lucas then experienced two years of creative block, but when Peyton moved back to Tree Hill from Los Angeles and motivated him not to give up, he finally had his inspiration back and started writing his second novel, The Comet , which turned out to be again focused on his everlasting love for Peyton. However, after its publication, the book was not met with the same success as the first one.
After his departure, it was revealed Lucas had started writing his third novel. Lucas Eugene Scott was born on May He was the only son of Karen Roe and the oldest son of Dan Scott. Dan was absent for all his life, so he formed a close bond with his father's brother, Keith Scott , who was a father figure to him.
