Just before the school reopened Tuesday, students lined up along Hobson Pike holding signs protesting gun violence. And just now, because one of our students and fellow classmates has passed away, we are just now getting metal detectors. She expressed concern over safety at the school due to a lack of security and a series of additional threats against the school being investigated by police. She said she was not going back into the school after the protest.
The protest follows a rally Monday at the Capitol, where dozens of students and people affected by gun violence gathered as lawmakers met for the first day of a special legislative session.
