Ann Bowyer Boren passed away peacefully on February 1, , at the age of 81, after a 3 year battle with systemic scleroderma. After she graduated from college, Ann joined Greg in Cincinnati and she worked in a physician's office followed by two years of teaching in local schools.
She married her high school sweetheart in while he was in medical school. Ann grew up in a sweet, white-clad home in West Virginia as the middle child who rued the day her mother named her Ann without an E!
Sister Susan, brother John, and Ann roamed the neighborhood with their friends, watching the near-by train tracks for the daily trains that were close enough to be felt rumbling in their house. Ann spent her childhood dancing, attending Christ Church United Methodist, and playing piano. Her summers were spent at her favorite place in the world, Camp Miniwanca in Shelby, Michigan.
Anyone who met Ann over the years knows that the dunes of Lake Michigan and brisk beauty of Stony Lake were her true loves. She continued attending Camp Miniwanca as an adult, going to Mother's Camp and running the arts and crafts house.
She passed her love of camp on to her daughter and three grandchildren, who still attend and work at Miniwanca's sister camp, Merrowvista, in the mountains of New Hampshire.
